Wild Puppy in Putah Creek!

We walked in the crazy heat this weekend around a part of Putah Creek in Davis, CA. Juno had a lot of fun - chasing bunnies, eating bugs, and swimming in the creek.

Nature seemed to be mocking me. It got so hot, I put the camera away on our walk back. And of course that's when birds flew right above us, a family of rabbits hopped down the trail, and two trains sped along the nearby tracks. As Jay Maisel says, "always have your camera with you, because it's much harder to take photos without it."

Auburn

I took a minor hike last week through the Auburn State Recreational Area. The area is so big that only saw a tenth of the park (if that much). So I'll definitely be heading back there a few times.

Are you sure you're not a professional?

I had the best time last week at the California Academy (Paul Mitchell Partner School). Seven make-up artists in training needed shots for their growing portfolios. I was just blown away by the job they did. And these "friends and relatives" of theirs that I photographed could all easily be professional models. Talk about a fun way to spend a few hours =). Enjoy!

Window Light

I didn't have much time to shoot on my last trip, but I had to take advantage of some beautiful lighting coming through one of the windows when I had a few minutes of down time. Since I usually prefer warm lighting and colors, I gave myself the assignment to work with these cooler conditions. Ironically the "coolness" had nothing to do with the actual temperature. It was damn hot that afternoon!

I'm a little behind on blogging, so I'll try to post a few more this week. Sorry!
